Getting help

How to get help

We at the VACC want to help you get the most out using VACC. If you have questions or problems using the VACC cluster, there are several ways to contact us depending on the nature of your question or issue.

Questions about using the cluster

Most questions are likely to be about using the cluster. The best way to ask us about problems on the cluster is via our ticket system. You submit a ticket by sending e-mail to vacchelp@uvm.edu. It will help us if you can include as much of the following information as is applicable to the problem.

  • Description of the problem
  • The output of the module list command when the problem is present
  • The directory you are in when the error occurs
  • The command that is run to get the error
  • The names of any error logs that might have been created
  • The job number, if the error occurred in a batch job
  • The full path to the job script that was submitted

Office hours/virtual cafe

We have regularly scheduled, online office hours, which we also call our 'virtual cafe'. A number of VACC staff members attend each of them. This is an opportunity to join us to ask for help, or even just to say Hi, tell us what you're doing, or ask us what we have planned for the future.

Please see the office hours/virtual cafe schedule for dates, times, and the link to join.

Administrative questions

If you are a PI with questions about billing, grants, or other administrative matters, you should write to vacc@uvm.edu. If you are in doubt whether your question should go to this address, please send it to vacchelp@uvm.edu, and we will make sure it gets to the correct person.
